Private-label launch planning: how packaging MOQ can reshape the entire product economics
A low product MOQ does not always mean a low launch MOQ once printed packaging enters the project.

Separate the MOQs
Ask for product-production MOQ, primary-pack MOQ, printed-film or pouch MOQ, carton MOQ and minimum print quantities. The largest number may not come from the factory producing the coffee or matcha itself.
Use pilot-friendly structures
For early launches, digital labels, stock pouches, sleeves or smaller print runs can reduce dead packaging inventory. Once sales repeatability is proven, a fully customized structure may become more economical.
Model cash before artwork
Estimate packaging deposit, product deposit, freight, duties, warehousing and the number of months required to consume printed inventory. A visually ambitious pack is not commercially strong if the brand must hold two years of unused packaging.
