The easy tailwind is weaker

Vietnam's first-half 2026 data showed rising export volume but a sharp year-on-year decline in average export price. That makes it harder for exporters to rely on the commodity cycle alone for revenue growth.

Value-upgrading routes

The most credible routes include better green preparation, differentiated processing, specialty lots, traceability, soluble and finished products, OEM, private label and stronger packaging. Not every supplier should pursue every route; the objective is to choose capabilities that match real customers.

What buyers gain

Importers benefit when suppliers become more capable because product development, documentation and problem-solving improve. A mature supplier relationship can reduce the hidden cost of repeated resourcing, failed samples and inconsistent production.
